Macao Self-Service Application & Collection Services Launched

Recently, the new generation of "Self-Service Application Kiosks" and "Self-Service Collection Kiosks" customized by IST for the Identification Services Bureau(DSI) of Macao have been officially put into use. The equipment covers seven 24-hour self-service centers across the Macao Peninsula, Taipa Island and Coloane Island, providing all residents of Macao with round-the-clock services for the application and collection of identity cards and travel documents, truly achieving the public-friendly goal of "one-stop application and collection of documents".

With the accelerated integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macao residents have raised higher requirements for the convenience and timeliness of government services. The traditional counter service model is restricted by office hours and can hardly meet the public's demand for services "anytime, anywhere". To improve the efficiency of public services, the Identification Services Bureau of the Macao has joined hands with IST to jointly develop a new generation of self-service application and collection equipment, building a 7×24-hour self-service network covering the whole of Macao.

Leveraging over 30 years of experience in document production and self-service equipment development, IST has tailor-made self-service terminals for Macao that integrate intelligent processing, secure verification, and automated warehousing:

Self-Service Application Kiosk: Supports high-frequency services including renewal of permanent resident identity cards, applications for SAR travel documents, and issuance of personal data certificates. Newly added functions such as infrared height measurement, ten-finger fingerprint collection, and rolled fingerprint collection ensure the accuracy and compliance of biometric data capture, while reserving space for future service expansion.

Self-Service Collection Kiosk: Integrates smart storage management and biometric recognition technologies to realize automated storage and distribution of identity cards and travel documents. Residents may complete the entire process—code scanning, identity verification, old card invalidation, and new card collection—within 2 minutes by presenting their collection receipt and verifying their identity via fingerprints, facial recognition, or other biometric methods, with no manual intervention required throughout.

At present, the new-generation self-service equipment has been operating stably at seven 24-hour self-service centers across the Macao Peninsula, Taipa Island and Coloane Island. Featuring a user-friendly interface and clear procedures, the equipment allows residents to visit the nearest service center at any time to handle affairs without taking leave or queuing. Residents generally report that the system is easy to operate and issues documents quickly. Services that previously required a special trip to a service counter can now be conveniently completed in the evening or on weekends. The deployment of the equipment has not only reduced the pressure on counter services but also enhanced the intelligence and accessibility of Macao's government services, earning high recognition from the Identification Services Bureau of the Macao and the general public.
